Overview

PLEKHA8 shRNA is a gene-silencing tool designed to knock down the expression of the PLEKHA8 (Pleckstrin homology domain-containing family A member 8) gene, also known as FAPP2. PLEKHA8 is a Golgi-associated protein involved in lipid metabolism and transport, specifically binding to phosphatidylinositol 4-monophosphate (PI4P). In the context of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), PLEKHA8 is often overexpressed. Research using lentivirus-based shRNA systems has demonstrated that reducing PLEKHA8 levels inhibits T-ALL cell proliferation, induces cell cycle arrest in the sub-G1 phase, and promotes autophagy by altering PI4P distribution. This suggests PLEKHA8 as a potential therapeutic target for aggressive hematological malignancies.
