Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pliaglis is a topical local anesthetic cream containing a combination of lidocaine (7%) and tetracaine (7%). It is indicated for use on intact skin in adults to provide topical local analgesia for superficial dermatological procedures, such as dermal filler injections, pulsed dye laser therapy, facial laser resurfacing, and laser-assisted tattoo removal. The product utilizes a proprietary phase-changing technology that forms a pliable, self-occlusive peel upon exposure to air, which facilitates the delivery of the anesthetics into the skin. Both lidocaine and tetracaine function by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in the neuronal membrane, thereby inhibiting the conduction of nerve impulses and preventing the sensation of pain.
