PLK4 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to target and silence the expression of Polo-like kinase 4 (PLK4), a key regulator of centriole duplication and cell division. PLK4 is frequently upregulated in various cancers, including breast and colorectal cancers, where its overexpression leads to centrosome amplification and chromosomal instability. By mediating the sequence-specific degradation of PLK4 mRNA, PLK4 siRNA inhibits cancer cell proliferation, induces mitotic arrest, and promotes apoptosis. In addition to oncology research, PLK4 siRNA has been investigated in preclinical models of spinal cord injury to reduce astrocyte proliferation and neuroinflammation. It is widely utilized as a research reagent to study centrosome biology and validate PLK4 as a therapeutic target.
