**PLL001** is an investigational, multi-active poly-L-lysine-based polypeptide conjugate developed by PLL Therapeutics for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The product is designed to deliver the short-chain fatty acids acetate, butyrate, lactate, and propionate to intestinal epithelial cells and the blood-brain barrier, with the proposed aim of restoring gut-barrier integrity, reducing dysbiosis-associated leakage and inflammatory exposure, and mitigating downstream neurodegenerative processes. PLL001 completed the first 12-patient safety stage of its randomized phase I/II ALS study, and the sponsor states that the program is advancing into a larger phase II efficacy stage.
