PLS-6 is a small molecule inhibitor being developed by Primetime Life Sciences for the treatment of *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* infections. It specifically targets chorismate mutase, an enzyme essential to the shikimate pathway. This pathway is responsible for the biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids—phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan—in bacteria, fungi, and plants, but is notably absent in humans, making it an attractive target for selective antimicrobial therapy. By inhibiting chorismate mutase, PLS-6 disrupts the production of these essential amino acids, thereby inhibiting the growth and survival of the tuberculosis pathogen. The drug is currently in the early stages of development.
