Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PLSV-1 is a bacteriophage-based product developed by Intralytix, Inc. for veterinary applications. It is designed to prevent and treat bacterial diseases, specifically targeting Salmonella infections in poultry. The mechanism of action involves bacteriophages, which are viruses that infect and lyse specific bacterial cells, thereby disrupting bacterial metabolism and leading to their destruction. While not yet fully optimized for commercialization, preliminary proof-of-concept studies have demonstrated its safety and efficacy.
