Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PluraStem is a preclinical-stage platform technology developed by Escape Therapeutics that utilizes a proprietary immune tolerance (IT) platform to create universal pluripotent embryonic stem cells (ESCs). These cells are engineered to express a tolerogenic molecule on their extracellular membranes, which confers immune protection and allows the cells to evade immune rejection by the recipient's immune system. The platform is designed to enable the development of off-the-shelf, ESC-derived cell replacement therapies that can be administered to patients of any HLA type without the need for HLA matching or adjunctive immunosuppression. PluraStem serves as the foundational technology for deriving various specialized cell types, such as beta cells or fibroblasts, for downstream therapeutic applications.
