Overview

Pluripotent stem cell-derived mesenchymal stem cell exosomes are extracellular vesicles (EVs) secreted by mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that have been differentiated from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). These exosomes are nanosized vesicles with a lipid bilayer membrane, typically ranging from 30 to 200 nm in diameter. They contain proteins, lipids, RNA molecules (including microRNAs and mRNAs), and other bioactive molecules derived from their parental cells[1][2][4]. The primary mechanism of action involves intercellular communication through the transfer of these bioactive cargoes to recipient cells, modulating cellular behavior and promoting tissue repair and regeneration. Exosomes derived from iPSC-MSCs have shown therapeutic potential in various injury models by promoting angiogenesis, reducing inflammation, and enhancing wound healing[2][4]. Their use is considered a non-cell-based therapy approach in regenerative medicine.
