Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PluroGel is a concentrated surfactant-based wound dressing developed by PluroGen Therapeutics and currently marketed by Medline. It utilizes a proprietary Micelle Matrix technology composed of non-ionic surfactants (poloxamers) that exhibit thermo-reversible properties, allowing the dressing to maintain its viscosity and stay in place at body temperature. PluroGel functions by softening and loosening necrotic tissue, proteinaceous debris, and biofilm through its surfactant action, facilitating non-traumatic debridement and maintaining a moist wound environment. It is indicated for the management of various wound types, including burn injuries, chronic vascular ulcers, and surgical wounds.
