PLZ4-DOTA-64Cu is a radiolabeled cyclic peptide conjugate designed for the positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of bladder cancer. The targeting moiety, PLZ4, is a cyclic peptide identified through "one bead one compound" (OBOC) library screening that specifically binds to human and canine bladder urothelial carcinoma cells, specifically targeting integrin alpha-v beta-3 (αvβ3). The peptide is conjugated to the chelator DOTA (1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid) to facilitate labeling with the positron-emitting radioisotope Copper-64 (64Cu). Developed by researchers at the University of California, Davis, this agent aims to improve the diagnosis, staging, and monitoring of bladder cancer by providing high-contrast imaging of primary tumors and metastatic sites.
