Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PMB-104 is a monoclonal antibody developed by Protheragen for the treatment of asthma. It specifically targets Immunoglobulin E (IgE), a key mediator in the allergic cascade. By binding to circulating IgE, PMB-104 prevents the interaction between IgE and its high-affinity receptor (FcεRI) on the surface of mast cells and basophils. This blockade inhibits the release of histamine, leukotrienes, and other pro-inflammatory cytokines, thereby reducing airway inflammation and hyperresponsiveness. The drug is currently in Phase I clinical development and is positioned as a targeted biologic therapy for allergic respiratory conditions.
