Overview

PMC-002 is a bispecific monoclonal antibody developed by PharmAbcine that simultaneously targets Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 2 (VEGFR2) and the Angiopoietin-1 receptor (Tie2). Utilizing the company's proprietary DIG-Body (Dual-I-G) platform, PMC-002 is designed to treat neovascular ocular diseases such as wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME). By dual-targeting the VEGF and Ang/Tie2 pathways, the drug aims to provide superior efficacy in reducing vascular leakage and improving visual outcomes compared to standard anti-VEGF monotherapies. While early development focused on oncology, the PMC-002 candidate was optimized for intravitreal administration to address the specific needs of ophthalmic patients. In some contexts, the VEGFR2/Ang2 bispecific candidate from the same platform is referred to as PMC-001S.
