PMCC-COE19 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting the CD19 antigen, which is expressed on the surface of malignant B-cells. Developed by the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia, and manufactured by Cell Therapies Pty Ltd, it is designed for patients with CD19-positive B-cell malignancies, including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). The therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T-cells to express a CAR that recognizes and binds to CD19, leading to the targeted destruction of cancerous B-cells. It is currently being evaluated in the Phase I PLATYPS clinical trial for patients who are ineligible for or have failed standard CAR T-cell treatments.
