Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PMI05 is a small molecule inhibitor of Carbonic Anhydrase IX (CAIX) currently in Phase I clinical development by D&D Pharmatech and its subsidiary, Precision Molecular Inc. CAIX is a cell-surface enzyme that is highly overexpressed in hypoxic regions of solid tumors, where it plays a vital role in maintaining an alkaline intracellular pH and an acidic extracellular environment, thereby promoting tumor cell survival, migration, and resistance to therapy. By inhibiting CAIX, PMI05 is intended to disrupt these adaptive mechanisms, particularly in urogenital diseases and other neoplasms. The drug is being evaluated for its potential in both oncology and immuno-oncology treatment regimens.
