pMMP-2 siRNA (also referred to as pM.si) is a plasmid-based small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of Matrix Metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2). In preclinical studies focusing on glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), pMMP-2 siRNA has been shown to inhibit endothelial cell proliferation and angiogenesis. The mechanism involves the downregulation of MMP-2, which subsequently reduces IL-3 expression and inhibits the Jak2/Stat5 signaling pathway. It also disrupts the interaction between MMP-2 and integrin α5β1. This therapeutic approach aims to serve as an anti-angiogenic treatment for high-grade gliomas.
