Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PMS-003 is a small molecule inhibitor of Sterol Regulatory Element-Binding Protein 1 (SREBP-1) currently in preclinical development by Qingdao Primedicine Pharmaceutical. SREBP-1 is a key transcription factor that regulates the expression of genes involved in lipid biosynthesis, including fatty acids and triglycerides. By inhibiting SREBP-1, PMS-003 aims to reduce excessive lipogenesis, which is a contributing factor in the pathogenesis of acne (via sebum production) and obesity (via fat accumulation). The drug is being investigated for its potential to modulate metabolic pathways associated with these conditions.
