PN149

PN149 is an experimental platinum(IV)–nitroxyl complex, classified as a platinum-based chemotherapeutic compound. It is designed to overcome the nephrotoxicity limitations of cisplatin while maintaining anticancer activity. PN149 demonstrates high cytotoxicity across various tumor cell lines, including effects in cisplatin-resistant bladder and testis cancer cells. The mechanism of action is similar to other platinum-based drugs, involving induction of DNA damage response, oxidative stress response, cell cycle control, and apoptosis in tumor cells. However, it shows reduced pro-inflammatory activity in kidney cells compared to cisplatin, which may indicate a lower potential for nephrotoxicity. It is still in experimental and preclinical development stages[1].
