Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PNB-New #1 is a preclinical-stage nanoparticle drug candidate developed by Peptinovo Biopharma for the treatment of cancer. It utilizes the proprietary PALM™ (Peptide-Amphiphile Lipid-Mediated) technology platform to deliver a Topoisomerase I (TOP1) inhibitor payload directly to tumor cells. By encapsulating the chemotherapy agent within a nanoparticle, the PALM™ platform is designed to enhance the delivery and therapeutic index of the TOP1 inhibitor. The mechanism of action involves the inhibition of the topoisomerase I enzyme, which prevents DNA religation during replication, leading to lethal DNA strand breaks and subsequent cancer cell death. The program is currently in preclinical development, with plans to initiate IND-enabling studies by late 2025.
