Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pneumococcal 24-valent Conjugate Vaccine is a multivalent vaccine candidate developed by Suzhou Juvvax Biotechnology for the prevention of diseases caused by *Streptococcus pneumoniae*. It utilizes a conjugate technology where capsular polysaccharides from 24 distinct pneumococcal serotypes are chemically linked to a carrier protein. This conjugation converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, enhancing immunogenicity and inducing long-term immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. The vaccine aims to provide broader coverage than existing 13-, 15-, or 20-valent vaccines against invasive pneumococcal diseases such as meningitis, bacteremia, and sepsis, as well as non-invasive pneumonia. It is currently undergoing Phase I clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety and immunogenicity across a broad age range from infants to adults.
