pneumococcal 7-valent conjugate vaccine

**Pneumococcal 7-valent conjugate vaccine** is a CRM197-conjugated pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine originally developed and marketed by Wyeth and subsequently Pfizer as **Prevnar** in the United States and **Prevenar** in other markets. It contains capsular polysaccharide antigens from *Streptococcus pneumoniae* serotypes 4, 6B, 9V, 14, 18C, 19F, and 23F, each individually conjugated to the non-toxic diphtheria toxin mutant carrier protein CRM197. The vaccine induces serotype-specific, T-cell-dependent humoral immune responses, including immunologic memory, to prevent invasive pneumococcal disease and reduce otitis media caused by vaccine serotypes.
