pneumococcal polysaccharide serotype 12F conjugated to crm197 adsorbed on aluminium phosphate is a monovalent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) candidate developed by the Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu (RIVM). It consists of the capsular polysaccharide of *Streptococcus pneumoniae* serotype 12F covalently linked to the CRM197 carrier protein, a non-toxic recombinant mutant of the diphtheria toxin, and is adsorbed onto an aluminium phosphate adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity. Serotype 12F is a highly invasive strain of pneumococcus associated with large outbreaks and is not covered by many standard multivalent vaccines like PCV10 or PCV13. This conjugate is designed to induce a T-cell dependent immune response, providing long-lasting immunity and immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. The vaccine component has been evaluated in preclinical and early-phase clinical studies as part of RIVM's efforts to develop expanded-spectrum pneumococcal vaccines for global health use.
