Pneumococcal polysaccharide serotype 23F conjugated to CRM197 adsorbed on aluminium phosphate is a monovalent vaccine component developed by the Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu (RIVM). It consists of the purified capsular polysaccharide of *Streptococcus pneumoniae* serotype 23F covalently linked to CRM197, a non-toxic mutant of the diphtheria toxin. This conjugation transforms the polysaccharide from a T-cell independent antigen into a T-cell dependent one, which is essential for inducing a robust immune response and immunological memory in infants and young children. The conjugate is adsorbed onto an aluminium phosphate adjuvant to enhance its immunogenicity. This specific conjugate is a key constituent of multivalent pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs) designed to prevent invasive pneumococcal disease, pneumonia, and otitis media caused by *S. pneumoniae*.
