Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Pneumococcal protein vaccine** is an investigational Sanofi trivalent recombinant protein-subunit vaccine intended to prevent disease caused by *Streptococcus pneumoniae*. The candidate contains pneumococcal choline-binding protein A, pneumococcal histidine triad protein D, and PlyD1, a detoxified pneumolysin derivative. It is designed to induce functional antibodies against conserved pneumococcal protein antigens, potentially providing cross-serotype protection beyond capsular-polysaccharide vaccines. The vaccine was evaluated in Phase 1 studies in healthy adults, toddlers, and infants, including an aluminum-adjuvanted formulation administered intramuscularly.
