Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Prenovax 23 is a 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine developed and manufactured by Incepta Vaccine (a division of Incepta Pharmaceuticals) in Bangladesh. It is indicated for active immunization to prevent invasive pneumococcal disease (such as bacteremia and meningitis) and pneumonia caused by 23 Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6B, 7F, 8, 9N, 9V, 10A, 11A, 12F, 14, 15B, 17F, 18C, 19A, 19F, 20, 22F, 23F, and 33F). The vaccine contains purified capsular polysaccharides from each of these 23 serotypes, which stimulate the production of serotype-specific antibodies to provide protection. It is approved for use in adults aged 50 years and older, as well as individuals aged 2 years and older who are at an increased risk of pneumococcal infection.
