Pneumostem is an allogeneic cell therapy consisting of ex vivo cultured, unrelated, human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUCB-MSCs). Developed by the South Korean biotechnology company MEDIPOST, it is intended for the prevention and treatment of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in premature infants. The therapy is administered via a single intratracheal dose and aims to leverage the anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties of mesenchymal stem cells to mitigate lung injury and promote tissue repair in neonates at high risk for chronic lung disease.
