Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PNL5 is an experimental PEGylated nanoliposome formulation developed for research in synucleinopathies, such as Parkinson's disease. In comparative studies evaluating multifunctional nanoliposomes, PNL5 serves as the control vehicle, consisting of the base PEGylated lipid bilayer without the addition of therapeutic agents like SNCA-targeting siRNA or inhibitory ligands such as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). It is utilized to differentiate the biological effects of the delivery system from the active components intended to inhibit α-synuclein fibrillization and silence the SNCA gene. Preclinical studies have used PNL5 to establish a baseline for microglial activation and protein aggregation in transgenic mouse models.
