PNU-IMUNE 23

**PNU-IMUNE 23** is a discontinued, non-conjugated 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine formerly developed and manufactured by Lederle Laboratories. Each 0.5 mL dose contains 25 micrograms of pneumococcal vaccine polyvalent; it consists of purified capsular polysaccharide antigens from 23 *Streptococcus pneumoniae* serotypes. The vaccine produces serotype-specific humoral immune responses, including protective antipneumococcal antibodies, to prevent pneumococcal disease. It was used as the licensed polysaccharide-vaccine comparator in a Phase 2 NIAID study of a 9-valent CRM197-conjugated pneumococcal vaccine in adults aged 65 years or older.
