Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PNV-6005 is a **small molecule drug** functioning as a **selective adenosine 2A receptor agonist**, developed for its **anti-inflammatory properties** and protective effects against **colitis** and other **inflammatory bowel diseases** (IBD). In preclinical (animal) studies using a DSS-induced colitis model, PNV-6005 significantly prevented weight loss (>50% inhibition) and colon tissue damage (almost total prevention), as well as reduced inflammation histologically. The drug is designed to address challenges with solubility and biodistribution commonly associated with adenosine analogs. Developed by Purnovate, a subsidiary of Adial Pharmaceuticals, PNV-6005 is being positioned for further development in ulcerative colitis, IBD, and potentially other inflammatory conditions where immune response ("cytokine storm") is a key pathological factor[1][2][3][5][8][9].
