Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PNV_Ent is a peptide-based vaccine candidate developed by Immunethep that targets the extracellular form of bacterial glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH). It is designed to provide broad-spectrum protection against infections caused by *Escherichia coli* and *Klebsiella pneumoniae*. The vaccine works by neutralizing extracellular bacterial GAPDH, a virulence factor used by these pathogens to evade the host immune system, while sparing human GAPDH. This neutralization allows the host's immune system to effectively recognize and clear the bacterial infection. In 2025, the program received funding from CARB-X to optimize its formulation for inducing robust and long-lasting immunity against these dangerous pathogens.
