Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PNV_Strep is a peptide-based vaccine being developed by Immunethep to prevent infections caused by *Streptococcus pneumoniae*, *Streptococcus agalactiae* (Group B Streptococcus), and *Streptococcus pyogenes*. The vaccine targets the extracellular form of bacterial glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), a highly conserved protein across these pathogenic bacteria that acts as a virulence factor. By eliciting an immune response that neutralizes extracellular GAPDH without affecting human GAPDH, the vaccine enables the host's immune system to effectively eliminate the bacteria. This approach is designed to provide broad protection across different serotypes and species, addressing the limitations of current serotype-specific vaccines.
