Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pocket-X is an in-situ gelling periodontal product developed by Dexcel Pharma for the management of periodontal pockets in patients with periodontitis. The product is applied as a liquid into the periodontal pocket following scaling and root planing (SRP), where it undergoes a phase transition to form a semi-solid physical barrier. This mechanical seal is designed to prevent the re-colonization of bacteria within the cleaned pocket, maintaining a clean environment that facilitates the natural healing and re-attachment of the gingival tissue. Unlike traditional locally delivered antimicrobials, Pocket-X primarily functions through a physical and mechanical mode of action rather than a pharmacological one, acting as a shield to support the clinical outcomes of conventional periodontal therapy.
