Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**PODS BMP-7** is a crystalline presentation of human Bone Morphogenetic Protein 7 (BMP-7), also known as osteogenic protein-1 (OP-1), co-crystalized with polyhedrin protein to enable sustained, controlled release. Developed by Cell Guidance Systems, it belongs to the TGF-β superfamily and acts as a growth factor promoting osteogenesis, chondrogenesis, and brown adipogenesis through autocrine and paracrine signaling. BMP-7 binds BMP receptors, phosphorylating Smad1/5/8 to drive differentiation, and has shown potential in bone and cartilage defect repair models by outperforming soluble BMP formulations in proliferation and tissue regeneration.[3][5][6][7]
