Faktu is a topical combination medication indicated for the treatment of various anorectal disorders, most notably hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and proctitis. It consists of two active components: policresulen and cinchocaine hydrochloride. Policresulen is a polymolecular organic acid that acts as a local hemostatic and astringent; it selectively coagulates necrotic or pathologically altered tissue while leaving healthy squamous epithelium unaffected, thereby promoting healing and preventing infection. Cinchocaine hydrochloride (also known as dibucaine) is a potent amide-type local anesthetic that provides symptomatic relief from pain, burning, and pruritus by inhibiting the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses through the blockade of voltage-gated sodium channels. The product was originally developed by Altana (later Nycomed and Takeda) and is currently part of the pharma& Group portfolio.
