Overview

Polidocanol + glucose is a sclerosing solution that combines polidocanol (a surfactant with endothelial cell lytic properties) with hypertonic glucose. This combination is used for sclerotherapy of varicose veins, particularly telangiectasias and reticular veins in the lower extremities. The mechanism of action involves damaging the endothelium of blood vessels, leading to platelet aggregation, vessel occlusion, and eventual replacement with connective fibrous tissue.
