Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Poliorix** is GSK's trivalent, enhanced-potency inactivated poliomyelitis vaccine for active immunization against poliomyelitis. It contains inactivated poliovirus antigens representing poliovirus serotypes 1, 2, and 3 and is administered by intramuscular injection. As a non-replicating whole-virus vaccine, it induces protective humoral immunity, including poliovirus-neutralizing antibodies, without the risk of vaccine-associated paralytic poliomyelitis associated with live oral poliovirus vaccines. Clinical studies in infants and toddlers, including studies in China, Korea, and Russia, reported immunogenicity and an acceptable safety/reactogenicity profile.
