PolipillV1 is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical drug designed to improve treatment compliance in patients at high cardiovascular risk or with established cardiovascular disease. It combines four well-known medications: aspirin (75mg), simvastatin (40mg), lisinopril (10mg), and atenolol (50mg). Aspirin acts as an antiplatelet agent by irreversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes, primarily COX-1, to reduce thromboxane A2 production. Simvastatin is a statin that lowers cholesterol by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, a key enzyme in cholesterol synthesis. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, reducing blood pressure by blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. Atenolol is a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist, which decreases heart rate and cardiac output, thereby lowering blood pressure. This combination aims to provide comprehensive cardiovascular protection by addressing multiple risk factors simultaneously.
