Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Poltechnet is a molybdenum-99/technetium-99m (99-Mo/99m-Tc) radionuclide generator used for the production of sodium pertechnetate (99mTc) injection, a primary tool in diagnostic nuclear medicine imaging. Developed and manufactured by the National Centre for Nuclear Research (POLATOM) in Poland and distributed by WIIK Pharma, the generator utilizes a column chromatography system where the parent isotope, molybdenum-99, decays into the metastable technetium-99m. Technetium-99m is a gamma-emitting radionuclide with a 6-hour half-life, making it ideal for various imaging procedures, either through direct injection of the eluate or by labeling specific radiopharmaceutical kits. The product is authorized for diagnostic use in Denmark and Sweden and is available in various activity levels.
