Overview

Polyene phosphatidylcholine (PPC) is a hepatoprotective agent derived from soy, rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids such as linoleic, linolenic, and oleic acids. It is a major component of cell membrane phospholipids and plays a key role in maintaining membrane integrity and function. PPC exerts its effects through anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunoregulatory mechanisms. Clinically, it is widely used for the treatment of various liver diseases including drug-induced liver injury (DILI), viral hepatitis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels. In addition to its hepatoprotective properties, PPC has been shown to enhance cholesterol catabolism and act as an antihyperlipidemic agent[1][4][5][8]. It is commonly used alone or in combination with other liver-protective drugs.
