Overview

This combination therapy consists of polyene phosphatidylcholine (PPC) and magnesium isoglycyrrhizinate (MgIG), evaluated for the treatment of perioperative liver injury in patients undergoing laparoscopic hemihepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma. Polyene phosphatidylcholine is a mixture of phospholipids that integrates into damaged hepatocyte membranes to restore integrity and function, promoting membrane repair and regeneration. Magnesium isoglycyrrhizinate is a magnesium salt of the 18α-glycyrrhizic acid stereoisomer, which possesses potent anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective properties, often by inhibiting high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) and modulating inflammatory pathways. The combination is intended to synergistically reduce liver enzyme levels and mitigate surgical trauma-induced liver damage.
