This regimen consists of a split-dose administration of polyethylene glycol (PEG), an osmotic laxative, in combination with prucalopride, a selective 5-HT4 receptor agonist. PEG functions by creating an osmotic gradient that retains water within the intestinal lumen, thereby increasing stool volume and stimulating bowel movements. Prucalopride acts as a prokinetic agent, enhancing colonic motility to facilitate the transit of a colon capsule through the gastrointestinal tract.
