Overview

Polyethylene glycol loxenatide + digoxin is a combination drug consisting of two active ingredients: polyethylene glycol loxenatide and digoxin. Polyethylene glycol loxenatide is a modified GLP-1 receptor agonist (polyethylene glycol-derivatized loxenatide) used primarily for type 2 diabetes, which improves glycemic control by enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion. Digoxin is a cardiac glycoside that increases the force of myocardial contraction and modulates electrical conduction within the heart, primarily used for heart failure and certain arrhythmias. This combination may be considered in settings where both diabetes and cardiac management are necessary, although direct clinical studies and branded combinations of these two agents are not standard. Notably, coadministration of a polyethylene glycol-based laxative (such as macrogol 4000) and digoxin leads to reduced intestinal absorption of digoxin, significantly lowering plasma concentrations (AUC and Cmax) without significant change in pharmacodynamics like heart rate or AV conduction[1][2][3]. No evidence was found for direct marketed combination products or established clinical combinations of polyethylene glycol loxenatide and digoxin; therefore, this appears to be a theoretical or investigational combination.
