Polygalae Radix extract is a natural herbal preparation derived from the dried roots of Polygala tenuifolia or Polygala sibirica. Traditionally indicated for insomnia, forgetfulness/memory loss (including amnesia), depression/anxiety disorders and cough/palpitations; modern research supports its use primarily for cognitive impairment/neurodegenerative conditions and mood disorders. The raw form can cause gastrointestinal irritation due to saponins; thus it is often processed or combined with other herbs to reduce toxicity[1].
