Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Polyphetamine was a proprietary multi-salt amphetamine product developed by ITL Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). As a central nervous system stimulant, it was designed to modulate the levels of key neurotransmitters involved in focus and impulse control. The mechanism of action involves the release and reuptake inhibition of dopamine and norepinephrine through interactions with the dopamine transporter (DAT), norepinephrine transporter (NET), and trace amine-associated receptor 1 (TAAR1). The project was in the IND-enabling phase around 2011, but development has since been discontinued following the cessation of ITL Pharmaceuticals' operations.
