Overview

Plaquex is a compounded therapeutic formulation primarily composed of polyunsaturated phosphatidylcholine (PC), an essential phospholipid that is a natural constituent of all cell membranes. Originally developed in Europe to treat fatty emboli during trauma surgery, it has been used for approximately 70 years to address cardiovascular conditions such as atherosclerosis, angina pectoris, and peripheral artery disease. The treatment works by replenishing damaged phosphatidylcholine in cell membranes and lipid transport vehicles (HDL/LDL), thereby enhancing membrane fluidity and facilitating cholesterol metabolism to reduce plaque deposits. It is administered primarily via intravenous (IV) infusion, though an oral softgel form is also available. Beyond cardiovascular health, Plaquex is utilized for liver and kidney diseases, hypercholesterolemia, and general anti-aging purposes.
