Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Polyvalent Anti-Snake Venom Serum - Pan Africa (marketed as PANAF-Premium) is an equine-derived polyvalent antivenom developed and manufactured by Premium Serums and Vaccines. It consists of lyophilized, enzyme-refined equine F(ab')₂ immunoglobulin fragments designed to neutralize the venoms of 24 medically important snake species in sub-Saharan Africa, including species from the genera *Bitis*, *Echis*, *Naja*, and *Dendroaspis*. The product contains more than 60% venom-specific antibodies and is formulated as a lyophilized powder that does not require cold-chain storage, making it highly suitable for use in resource-limited settings. It is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and is listed on the WHO Essential Medicines List for the treatment of snakebite envenomation.
