Pomalidomide + Zn-DDC is an investigational combination therapy being studied for the treatment of hematological malignancies, including multiple myeloma. Pomalidomide is a second-generation immunomodulatory drug (IMiD) that exerts antineoplastic effects by modulating the immune system, inhibiting angiogenesis, and inducing apoptosis in malignant cells. It is approved for use in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma and other indications. Zn-DDC (zinc diethyldithiocarbamate), also known as Imuthiol, has demonstrated toxicity to cancer stem cells in preclinical studies and may target hypoxia-related pathways such as NF-kappaB signaling implicated in cancer cell survival. The combination aims to leverage the anti-myeloma activity of pomalidomide with the potential cancer stem cell targeting properties of Zn-DDC to improve outcomes in patients with difficult-to-treat blood cancers[5]. Clinical trials are ongoing to assess safety and efficacy.
