Pooled mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a form of allogeneic cell therapy in which MSCs are derived from the combined bone marrow or other tissue sources of multiple healthy donors. This pooling approach is designed to minimize donor-to-donor variability and enable large-scale, standardized manufacturing for clinical use. Pooled MSCs exhibit immunomodulatory and regenerative properties through secretion of trophic factors and modulation of immune responses. They have been investigated for a range of indications including severe acute graft-versus-host disease (aGvHD), COVID-19-related acute respiratory distress syndrome, diabetic wound healing, and other inflammatory or degenerative conditions. Mechanistically, they act by suppressing pathological immune activation (allosuppression), promoting tissue repair via paracrine signaling, enhancing vascularization, and recruiting reparative macrophages[1][2][3].
