A Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT04543955) is evaluating the safety and immunogenicity of POOLED-RBCs compared to standard single-donor leukoreduced RBCs, with a focus on monitoring for transfusion-associated adverse events and the development of new alloantibodies or positive direct antiglobulin tests (DAT). The units are typically matched for major antigens such as C, E, and K to reduce the risk of immunogenic reactions.
