Populus alba pollen

Populus alba pollen is an allergenic extract derived from the pollen of the Populus alba plant, also known as the white poplar tree. It is a biological product used for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in individuals with allergies to tree pollens. For diagnosis, it is used in allergy skin tests. As a therapy, it is administered via immunotherapy (hyposensitization) to gradually build tolerance to the allergen, thereby reducing the allergic response. The product is available as a non-standardized injectable solution and is marketed by several companies, including ALK-Abello and Greer Laboratories. It has been in use since 1965 for patients with immediate hypersensitivity to white poplar pollen and related allergens. [1, 2]
