Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PopVax HCV Vaccine is a preclinical-stage vaccine candidate being developed by PopVax for the prevention of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The vaccine utilizes a proprietary mRNA-encoded virus-like particle (VLP) platform, which integrates machine learning-driven protein design with mRNA delivery systems. This approach is designed to deliver genetic instructions that enable the in vivo assembly of VLPs displaying Hepatitis C viral antigens, thereby mimicking the structure of the virus to stimulate a robust and protective immune response. As of early 2026, the program is in late preclinical development, with Phase 1 clinical trials projected to commence in 2027. It is positioned as a potential first-in-class vaccine for a disease that currently lacks an effective preventative immunization.
